It is Best to Rest

There are days when success sounds like a myth.
When I have no inspiration,
no road nor destination,
no grit nor motivation.
They say that to survive burnout,
writer's block, fatigue,
or whatever they call it—one must fight through it.
But all that's ever done is leave me feeling weary and reeling
while the exhaustion remained unyielding.
But know that rest
is not a test
to your resilience,
competence,
and excellence.
Resting is embracing yourself.
It's allowing your tired eyes
to close and to gaze at the constellation of
stars undiscovered.
It's acknowledging the pain on the soles of your weary feet,
sitting down, and treating the blisters born out of a day's arduous journey.
It's seeing yourself in the mirror
and drinking in the sight of a human
who has shaky hands,
teary eyes,
and cracked lips.
It's embracing yourself.
And telling yourself that
it's okay to rest.
That you aren't invincible.
That when you rest,
you are taking care of yourself.
You are healing.
You are growing.
So allow yourself to sleep.
To eat.
To read books.
To stop thinking.
To take breaks.
And to breathe.
For real.
