Stroll Through The Sky

Feet on the pedals, turning with the gears,
Feel how the Earth moves beneath you,
The mechanisms you power
Carrying you through this transitory second
Just a little closer to the next;
Let yourself wander, body and mind,
Painting a loose line of thoughts
And bike tracks on your way
To a version of yourself you’ve yet to meet -
Remember the kindness of this journey,
Return to it when you need to be grounded.
Let gravity propel you forward on your path,
Lift your burdens until you soar;
Bounce with the uneven pavement,
Your hair rising and falling
Like the notes of the violin in your ears,
A delicate score capturing
The crescendo of this moment
Like the opening credits of a movie;
Hum the melody accompanying you,
Tapping your feet when you can,
As it finds its place in the score -
Remember how it sounds beside piano and violins
And know that it is beating.
Feel the wind hitching a ride on your bike,
A hundred ephemeral stray touches
Alleviating the glare of the sun;
Let your every breath stretch into a sigh
As the world blurs into colors, shape, and light,
Blotches marked onto the canvas by a steady hand -
Remember the poetry of this moment,
How alive it makes you feel to be art.
